Stress management may help1

Stress may make blood pressure go up, and it may be one of the factors that contributes to high blood pressure. Working to control the stress in your life may help you to feel better, stop smoking, or help you to eat and exercise in a healthier way.

What you can do to reduce stress

Ask your doctor for advice about the many ways to manage stress. Your doctor may recommend relaxation techniques like yoga or meditation, spending quality time with friends or family, or being in a support group.
